Many women want to book a boudoir shoot but they are overwhelmed by what to wear for their boudoir photoshoot. Here are few tips from a Worcestershire glamour portrait and boudoir photographer.
Muted colours
Choose muted/matte/primary/pastel colours. If you are planning to display your photos as a wall art or in a folio box with your favourite image on show, pick the colours that would go well with your home decor. If you are planning a shoot as a surprise wedding gift to your husband to be, pick some clothing and lingerie that will be the colours of your wedding.
Corsets & Shapewear
If you are self conscious about your middle, bring at least one corset or bodysuit. Shapewear is PERFECT also. Fitted things will actually be more flattering! We want to show your curves!
When choosing corsets, stick with corsets with a sweetheart neckline. When corsets are straight in the bust area it will flatten your girls instead of flattering them!
Oversized shirts & jumpers
Oversized shirt is perfect if you want to look sexy whilst not showing off much. This styling would be great for both glam and boudoir sessions. It’s so simple and you get buy a shirt just about anywhere or… borrow it from your other half 🙂 Oversized cardigans or jumpers are also a good option.
Bring SKIN TONE and BLACK heels. The higher/skinnier the heels the better. The right heel can lengthen and slim your legs!
Make sure you also have at least one killer bra (with good support) and knickers set.
Garter belts
Garter belts (or suspenders) are a classic boudoir photoshoot wardrobe staple! There are so many different styles and looks when it comes to these sexy accessories and they look good on just about every body. They fit all shapes, sizes, ages and can be paired up with a bra and panty set, attached to shapewear or bodysuit… or you can wear them with nothing else. Garters can be paired up with traditional black stockings, white for bridal boudoir, nude for that classic look, solid black tights look really modern or go all out sexy with fishnets.
Lace & layers
Lace and layers look great. I’ve got several of these lace robes in different colours and styles in my studio. They look beautiful and elegant on everyone and add a bit of a romantic feel to the images.
Bodysuits & swimsuits
Bodysuits and swimsuits: these are ideal for ladies who are looking to vamp it up as well as ladies who want to be a bit more conservative and cover up more. They are so versatile and there are so many styles out there!
Classic White Sheet
It took me a while to start loving these as I have never quite liked the white sheet images I saw on the Internet. They were just… too much in my opinion. However recently I decided to give this a good go and created my own, elegant but still sexy version of the classic white sheet boudoir and I’m loving it. The great thing about it is, this suits every shape and size, and also the sheet can be very cleverly used to show as little or as much as you want. I’m loving it! What do you think?
