Kasia: Reclaiming Your Self-Worth Through Portraiture
How often do you put yourself last? If you’re like so many women I meet, you spend years tending to everyone else’s needs—family, work, relationships—while ignoring that quiet voice inside asking, “But what about me?” We’re taught that it’s selfish to want more, to be seen, or to take up space. But what if you gave yourself permission to step into the light, unapologetically? What if the next chapter was all about you—your self-worth, your voice, your sovereignty?
That’s the heart of every portrait session I offer. And it’s the spirit behind Kasia’s experience—a story that may feel uncannily familiar if you’ve ever longed to reclaim the parts of yourself that got lost along the way.
The Myth of “Too Much”
Somewhere along the line, many of us learned that our desires should be small, our confidence tempered, our beauty hidden unless someone else validates it. We absorb messages that tell us to shrink: don’t be too loud, don’t ask for too much, don’t shine too brightly.
But here’s the truth: You are not too much. And you are absolutely not “too little” either. You are powerful beyond measure, and you deserve to feel it—down to your bones.
What would it feel like to look at an image of yourself and see a woman who owns her space, her softness and her strength? Not for someone else’s approval, but for herself?
Reclaiming the Gaze
A portrait session isn’t about vanity. It’s about taking control of your own narrative and deciding how you want to be seen. Most of us go years, even decades, without pausing to witness our own growth, beauty, and resilience.
We hide from the camera. We judge ourselves harshly. We say, “I’ll book a session when I lose the weight, when I have a reason, when I finally feel ready.” But the secret is, you don’t need to change. You only need to choose yourself, as you are, right now.
Kasia’s story echoes this. She didn’t wait for a “perfect” moment—she decided she was ready to be seen, just as she is, in all her authenticity.
The Power of Being Seen
There’s something quietly revolutionary about letting yourself be seen through a compassionate lens. For women who have spent a lifetime making themselves smaller, the portrait experience can be a radical act of self-respect. You get to reclaim how you see yourself. You get to rewrite the story.
Imagine walking away from your session with images that remind you of your power and beauty on days you doubt yourself. Imagine gifting yourself the permission to be proud of how far you’ve come—even if you’re still in the middle of the journey.
Women who reclaim their self-worth and sovereignty aren’t “full of themselves”—they’re full of life. They give others around them permission to do the same.
More Than Just a Pretty Picture
Let’s be honest: beauty isn’t about perfection. It’s not about fitting into a mold or posing for the approval of others. Real beauty is about truth. It’s in your eyes when you’ve let go of old stories. It’s in the curve of your smile when you recognise yourself and feel, finally, at home.
That’s why I create a space that is gentle, safe, and judgment-free. There are no “shoulds” here. You don’t need to perform, and you definitely don’t need to apologise. Your only task is to arrive, breathe, and let yourself be seen.
Kasia’s session was all about this—surrendering expectations, stepping into her power, and witnessing her own beauty without filters.
Why Now? Why You?
If you’re reading this and feeling a stir of longing or curiosity, listen to it. Maybe you’re moving through a life change—a new career, an empty nest, a divorce, a big birthday, or a simple urge to reclaim your reflection. Maybe you’ve never felt “enough” for something like this. Maybe you’re just tired of hiding.
Here’s what I want you to know: You don’t need a “reason.” Being seen, honoured, and celebrated as you are is reason enough. The act of stepping in front of the lens can become a declaration: This is me. I am here. I matter.
And when you do, you might discover a new layer of confidence that you never knew was waiting inside you.
Permission to Shine
The truth is, you don’t have to earn your own attention. You don’t need to justify wanting to feel beautiful, strong, and alive. Your story, your resilience, your presence—they all deserve to be seen and honoured.
If you’re ready to reclaim your self-worth, your power, and your sovereignty, this is your invitation. A portrait session isn’t just about photographs. It’s about reconnecting with yourself, rewriting the rules, and choosing to be visible in a world that so often wants women to hide.
Below, Kasia shares her own reflections on stepping into this new chapter, in her own words…

I am a mother of 3 amazing children. I am a devoted friend. I am my daddy’s daughter even though he is no longer with us…

I am brave.
I am crazy.
I love challenges and adrenaline.
Like every other woman, I have my ups and downs, but I always get back up because life is beautiful and I have some amazing people to live for.
I am strong and positive and there is always smile on my face, even on my toughest days.
My friends say that when I walk into a room it’s as if a ray of sunshine walked in.
I love the outdoors, long walks, running, and I love all kinds of challenges. There are many experiences I want to create in my life, and those at the top of my bucket list are: a hot air balloon, parachute jump, paragliding, pole dancing and lots of travelling around the world (my number one places would be the Maledives and Niagara waterfalls).
